  1. In SCARS, Celeste Botha and Megan Erasmus delicately highlight various legacies handed down by women with a very tumultuous heritage; over many generations. The mixture of contemporary dance and ballet is interspersed with Denzel Erasmus' jazz standards improvisations on tenor and alto saxophone. The overall soundscape is the monologue of an aunty who was but one of a long line of survivors of the centuries of pain. Centuries' old colonisation, slavery, racism, revulsion at one's own skin and body aesthetics. Modern-day social restriction, servitude, apartheid, community customs, abuse, women's strength, unity, resilience and more - incredibly interpreted. Without harshness. The many subtleties maintain the lump in your throat. The way one's family experiences were boxed up, contained, deliberately hidden, almost forgotten. Only to be unpacked with bold curiosity. Their lithe bodies explore the flowing internal as the swirling, external, in a supreme wrestling with the past. In some moments literally shredding dignity from their bodies. In others, celebrating the simple, exquisite, unmistakable joy of a common humanity. Everyone should see this, especially if you're confused about "colouredism". We wish you well for the rest of your show run. Jay and Veronica Williams
